WOW! Netflix
I have been sick of cable television for a long time. I have never been happy about paying $60/mo for a hand full of channels. I dropped cable like a bad habit, but I didn’t like over the air television either. I went a long time without watching television at all.
I tried watching ultra pixelated Netflix and Hulu streams through PlayOn and my Nintendo Wii, but that did not satisfy me. Around this time I heard Netflix was coming to Wii, so I signed up for a disc.
Finally, my >Netflix for Wii disc arrived about two week later. It was a highly anticipated event, and I ran from the mailbox to the living room I like a child who just received a Nintendo DS or something.
I popped the disc in, and learned that the setup was simple, and that choosing movies and shows were simple, as well. I like that it showed programs that were not in my queue and also gave me recommendations based on what I have in my queue.
The picture is ultra clear on my 32″ CRT HDTV. I can enjoy pixel free programs with no stuttering, and it has caused me to watch more TV than I had watched in at least a decade. (I usually watch about two hours of TV a week).
Since we only have one television in the entire house (by choice), it”s nice that I can look at Netflix on my laptop and desktop if the television is occupied.
I enjoy the movie options that I have, and when combined with my Netflix DVD’s I feel like I am still current with shows and movies.
I really cannot say enough about Netflix, it’s liberating to know there is something you want to watch on TV, when you decide to sit down and watch it. Even my 3 year old daughter can pick up the remote and watch TV. Netflix has allowed me to sleep in a little longer, because she can turn on Netflix, and choose VeggieTales, Barney, Caliou, and Dora with ease (The Wii system is easier for her than the TV remote).
Either way if you just want to save some money by cutting a bill, or if you struggle to find show you like on cable, and then wonder, why do I pay for this every month, I think it’s worth a try. Netflix even made it easy for you to test the water by offering a 14-day trial.
