Is GoToMeeting the Best Web Conferencing Solution?

June 4th, 2010 Posted in blog

No! Gotomeeting and WebEx starts at $50/month, which allows them to cover their huge marketing budgets. Howevery you can find the same feature set in Yugma, for $10/mo. Vyew and Yakkle offers simalr an less refined features for free, which might not be a bad trade if you need to host a meeting right now, and then never hold another meeting again.

I am not a fan of conferencing applications that cause you to have to download files before the meeting start, because it is too difficult to coordinate, which is why I went look for options other than Gotomeeting and WebEx.

Vyew is the only conferencing product I saw that runs from a browser plug-in which is a little better, but I don’t like that it only runs on the most buggiest browser available, Internet Explorer. The downside is that voice has to be done by VOIP or computer microphone, which is a hassle to coordinate as your conference group gets larger.

Yugma lets you do SKype, and provides a telephone number for attendees to call into to join the conference.
