Dropbox is a Great Online Backup Solution
I used Dropbox for the first time today, and I must say that I am impressed by it’s ease of use. Tonight, I was literally able to swap files between Mrs. White’s old and new laptop with the ease of dragging and dropping files from folder to folder.
She didn’t have a lot of files, so the free 2GB option was plenty, but it’s nice to know that you can get up to 100GB for $20/mo.
I listen to a lot of talk radio and often hear advertisement about Carbonite and Barracuda, and other similar services, but it’s nice to see Dropbox offers a free version for the casual user. If you ever out grow your 2GB, you always have the option to pay for more space.
Dropbox is a great file server for small businesses too. The possibilities are endless. I was so impressed with the service, that I am using it myself, and setting it up for all of my customers.
Did I mention that Dropbox has a free app for the iPhone, iPad, and Android, which allows you to
Access and view files in your Dropbox, download files for offline viewing, and take photos and videos and sync them to your Dropbox.
Here is a video on the Dropbox service, that explains what is does, and how it can take the hassle out of backing up files, while eliminating the risk of losing your data. Enjoy.
