AT&T Unlimited Talk Plan is $69.99. Yay!
I cannot say I love AT&T, but I can say I love the iPhone that runs on it’s network. AT&T has not treated me disrespectful or caused any calamity in my life. I have learned to live with dropped calls, lack of tethering on the iPhone, lack of Google Voice, streaming Netflix, and the idea to charge $9.99/mo for a GPS app, when Google Maps and TomTom has the iPhone GPS market locked.
However, if the iPhone switched to Verizon, and Verizon didn’t brand the phone to death, or remove the cool competing apps off the App Store, or nickel and dime you for basic functions, I would gladly pay the cancellation fee, and switch.
AT&T had nothing going for it, except the iPhone. T-Mobile had comparable service and lower prices. I even read that you could get an iPhone running on the t-mobile network, but I did not want to take the chance.
However, AT&T has finally lowered their Unlimited talk plan to $69.99, which means I can now get unlimited voice and data for $100/mo. I use to pay nearly $150/mo for unlimited voice and data, with 200 text messages. I switched to 900 minutes and “My 5″ with unlimited data for $90/mo.
As soon as I got the email I called and switched. I have gotten great at managing calls, and even managed to accumulate 700 rollover minutes in January, but I would really like talk on my phone, and not call people back on the office line when minutes are running low.
This is a great move by AT&T to stay competitive, but I am tired of seeing AT&T react to competition. I would love to see them take some initiative, and roll-out 4G before the competition, or saturate the U.S. with 3G, and promise no dropped calls.
A man can wish can’t he?
